The Second Edition of the Gunjur Basketball Camp, taking place from Thursday to Monday was suceffuly launched on the 28th of August 2025. Over these days, we trained new players and strengthened the skills of returning athletes from Gunjur, Kunkujang Mariama, Sanyang, and Tujereng.

But this camp went beyond just basketball. Participants were also introduced to essential livelihood and recycling skills. We transformed old car tires into sofas, and used beads to create handbags, keyholders, and more — all while delivering important lessons in recycling and environmental sustainability.

We now concluded the camp on the 1st of August-and it was a great success—with plenty of progress made and even more to build on. Our shared vision is to build a sustainable basketball team for Gunjur, and ultimately extend this model throughout Kombo South.

My profound gratitude goes to all the trainers from Serrekunda, the Gunjur Basketball Project, the Gunjur Sports Committee, and the Volunteers Network Organization (VolNet). Your contributions to this project are recognized and deeply appreciated. I also want to acknowledge the commitment of the players throughout the camp. I hope their dedication continues well beyond these four days.

It’s been an incredible four days of learning and relearning—four days of being inspired beyond just basketball. To all the parties supporting this project: let’s renew our commitment. Let’s continue to support, to uplift, and to grow together. Gunjur and Kombo South Basketball have a bright future ahead. Let’s keep our heads high and our goals even higher.
Once again, thank you!
